What is Two-Nil Down?
We at Two Nil Down create garments designed to last, using ethical manufacturing techniques. Inspired by iconic kits and football fashion going back as far as the late nineteenth century, our clothes are meant to be worn for years to come.
Why "Two-Nil Down"?
The name “Two-Nil Down” comes from the feeling of being in a losing position and not knowing if you’ll be able to get yourself back into the game. However, the beautiful part about being Two-Nil Down in football is that if you score one goal or do just one thing right, you can flip the entire game on its head. The momentum can shift at any moment, and we believe this is true in life, as well. Just a little glimmer of hope is sometimes all you need to forge a new path.
Our Pledge
We’ve found that football provides a sense of community and belonging to everyone involved. It gives people who may not otherwise interact a common goal to fight for, and we want to help bring that to people who need it most. Therefore, with every sweater purchase, $20 USD will be donated to a charity that helps bring football to underserved communities. Currently, all donations will go to Street Soccer USA, whose mission is “To Fight Poverty and Strengthen Communities Through Soccer.”
Why was Two-Nil Down Started?
This mission resonates deeply with Two-Nil Down’s founder, Theodore Richards. Both of his parents spent their working lives helping underserved people create new and healthier paths for themselves. When his father passed away two years ago, Theodore wanted to make sure that he kept his legacy as a coach, therapist, and dad alive. This, along with their collective love for football, was the inception point for Two-Nil Down.
